What is Head Start?

Head Start is a federally funded program that promotes school readiness for children ages 3-5 from low-income families by enhancing their cognitive, social, and emotional development.

The program provides comprehensive services in education, health, nutrition, and family support. Our goal is to ensure every child has the foundation they need to succeed in school and beyond.

Head Start provides integrated services to support the whole child and their family.

Education

School readiness curriculum focused on literacy, math, science, and social-emotional development aligned with Florida standards.

Health & Nutrition

Comprehensive health screenings, nutritious meals, dental care, and connections to medical services for overall well-being.

Family Engagement

Parent involvement opportunities, family support services, and resources to help families achieve their goals.

Wrap-Around Support

Mental health services, disability services, and comprehensive support to address each child's individual needs.

Eligibility

Who Qualifies?

Your family may qualify for Head Start if you meet any of the following criteria:

Income-Based

Families with household income at or below the federal poverty level

Public Assistance

Families receiving TANF, SSI, or SNAP benefits (regardless of income)

Foster Care

Children in foster care qualify automatically

Homeless

Children experiencing homelessness qualify immediately

Federal Poverty Guidelines

Eligibility is based on the federal poverty level. Contact us to determine if your family qualifies based on household size and annual income.

Children with disabilities are also prioritized for enrollment regardless of family income.

Spaces are limited and filled based on eligibility criteria and enrollment priorities.
